True to its symbolic nature this 58 m tall tower also points to God, in Whom man \u2013 ultimately \u2013 finds his real destination. During the struggle for Belgian independence the tower was used as an observation post by King Leopold I to keep an eye on the Dutch occupying forces in the South Castle. To avoid a repetition of the 1755 disaster, the lantern was rebuilt in 1968-\u201875.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4a0b8fc
